Consider the Cause

When there is stress and tension in the nervous system, caused by common childhood occurrences such as birth, falls, and sports related injuries, behavior problems may arise. These behavior problems may look like symptoms of ADD/ADHD but they are not. Other factors in a child’s life may be effecting behavior such as nutrition, family relationships, anxiety, and learning disabilities.

The Dangers of Medication

There are dangers associated with prescription drugs that are commonly given to treat ADD/ADHD. The side effects of these drugs are weight loss, stunted growth, nervousness, agitation, anxiety, sleep problems, stomach pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, palpitations, headache, vision problems, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, sweating, skin rash, psychosis, and numbness.

What can Chiropractic Do?

Chiropractic care calms the nervous system. These gentle spinal adjustments affect the nervous system. The end result is that the child behaves and functions at a higher level. While changing diet, supplementing, and removing environmental aggravations are very important and effective parts of caring for children with this problem, they will only get limited results if there are still stressors in the nervous system.
